Project Overview
At the height of the AIDS pandemic, Mrs. Irene Diamond, president of the Aaron Diamond Foundation, recognized the critical need for dedicated scientific and medical research in the field of HIV/AIDS. With the assistance of Mayor David Dinkins, who provided a home in New York City for the new institution, the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center (ADARC) was established in 1991. Since 1996, ADARC has been an academic affiliate of Rockefeller University.
OC River provided a well-constructed and attractive product that met the needs of ADARC users and project specifications. Its lab casework provides the right mix of flexibility, durability and affordability needed for this project.
Expansion for More Brilliant Minds
As a leading local, national and global center of excellence in HIV/AIDS research, ADARC needed a new, cutting-edge research environment at Columbia University that would enable scientists from ADARC to continue their world-renowned research.

The New & Elevated Space
Two floors of the prestigious Hammer Health Sciences Center at Columbia University Irving Medical Center were designated to be the new space for ADARC.
In collaboration with Lord Aeck Sargent, we constructed a state-of-the-art research environment that worked with the confines of the existing building while also incorporating the latest equipment and space solutions needed.
For the Aaron Diamonds AIDS Research Center’s move to Columbia University Medical Center, we were so impressed with OC River’s product as well as its ability to provide a superb installation team; we awarded them the project over a lower bidder.
